I have been reading about adventure riding. ADV is a segment of motorcycling that I was not familiar with. The more I learn, the more I like what I am seeing.
I want to see and experience the incredible; the breathtaking; the awe-inspiring beauty of nature. I want to feel the roar of towering waterfalls. I want to bathe in volcanic hot springs.
I want to meet people and experience their cultures. I want to listen to mariachi and salsa bands as I sip margaritas. I want to eat local street food in random mercados and sleep on white sand beaches on the gulf coast. I want to hear the waves break while I watch magnificent sunrises. I want to eat fresh seafood caught that day, by the fishermen selling it to me.
I want to ride wandering two lane mountain roads. I want to avoid highways and congestion. I want to ride small, fuel efficient common commuter motorcycles that will be easy to find parts for when we experience the inevitable breakdowns. I want to ride about four hours day, divided up into three short sessions; covering about one hundred miles per day. At speeds of 25-50mph. This should leave plenty of time for exploring and eating.
I want to ride out heading south. I want to ride from Toledo Ohio to Laredo Texas. That is where I want to cross the border into Mexico. I want to hug the gulf coast until we get to the Yucatan Peninsula. I want to ride all the way to Strait of Magellan. The tip of South America.
I want to tent camp, visit hostels, and plan to stay in rented house or hotel one night every ten days or so. I want to plan occasional nights in a comfortable bed.

I want to explore Costa Rica’s pristine beaches. I want to watch baby sea turtles emerge from their nests and race towards the ocean.
The Panama Canal
Ziplines through the rainforest canopy.
I want to ride a ferry boat across the Amazon River.

And then what?
Ride the Pan-American Highway up the west coast of South America, Central America and cross over into North America, taking it all the way to Anchorage Alaska.
Or maybe go to Asia. Or Australia. They have 10,000 beaches. Or New Zealand. Plenty of time to make that decision.
